Why use an architect?
gap-architecture will help you to achieve your aspirations and vision. Your initial ideas, aspirations and budget will be used to maximise the benefit and value of the scheme. gap-architecture will add value to your home through good design and sound construction. You may be thinking whether you need to use an architect for your extension scheme, so we have tried to anticipate some concerns and questions people usually have in an effort to clarify your thoughts.
- Why use an architect at all? Architects are trained for a minimum of seven years and have to abide to rigorous professional standards and codes of conduct - no other building professional is trained in design and construction to such a level of expertise.
- How do know who is an architect? All architects have to be registered and can easily prove this. Remember, it is illegal to use the title "architect" unless you are registered and qualified as an architect!
- Are architects expensive to use? Architects fees vary a huge amount and gap-architecture remains extremely competitive. It is safe to say that any fees incurred by gap-architecture would more than likely be recovered through good design, avoidance of costly construction mistakes and sound design and contract management. Also remember that it is not simply down to the fee level - quality of service and overall competence is also worthy of consideration. Peace of mind is extremely valuable!
- It's only a small job, why bother with an architect? Small projects have the potential to go wrong if not done properly in just the same manner as larger works! Beware, and do not be misled into thinking the work can be done without professional advice - gap-architecture will always advise you if our services are not needed, as well if they are.
- How about getting the plans drawn and then a builder take it from there? Planning application drawings are very different from the details needed for construction. You may be lucky and the builder may be able to deliver what you want from planning details - however, it is more likely that without professional assistance you and the builder will only be able to deliver a "version" of what you thought you were going to get. The end result is disappointment.
